A fabulous collar in a most unusual, Art Nouveau design (it has a rather Art Deco look too, though the date is early for Art Deco).
This is an antique piece from around 1900 (verified as genuine by the Austrian auction house that we sourced it from). These old Bohemian garnets have a wonderful deep blood red colour - by candlelight they take on a particularly romantic glow.
The necklace is in lovely condition and has a 585 gold chain. The most beautiful, unique piece - we've never seen anything like it.
- About 9 cm across (3.6 inches).
- Probably tombak, which is an alloy made to look like silver - very commonly used in antique Bohemian garnet jewellery.
- 585 (14 carat) gold fastenings and chain.
