Presented in wooden box with glass front. This is a doll from about 1840. and is all original with a lovely "spaniel's ear" hair style.

This style of doll has a painted papier mache head (in ours, in great condition) with wood and leather used for the body, arms and legs. As they are typically delicate because of the papier mache, they are rare. Fortunately, we think this one has been in its box for a long time, so has been well protected and is in unusually good condition.

You can see a full appraisal of a very similar doll on The Antiques Roadshow.
https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/appraisals/milliners-model-doll-ca-1840/

There is also a similar doll (but not in a display box) here:
https://www.theriaults.com/events/listing/44315/an-all-original-german-paper-mache-lady-with-so-called-apollos-knot-coiffure

Please note that we would suggest using an insured courier service for this valuable doll so we will contact you to quote shipping possibilities.

Approximate measurements:

Doll: 21 cm (8.3 inches)

Box: 28 cm x 12.7 cm x 7 cm (11 x 5 x 2.75 inches

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0642/5397/files/antique-papier-mache-dressmakers-doll-in-wooden-glass-case2000front.jpg?v=1751032990
