Exquisite, large 19th century shell Bacchante cameo brooch in rose gold.

Short description

This is a beautiful, early cameo with detailed, fine carving.
It's of course hand-carved shell and set in  a pretty frame in what we believe to be rose gold. The gold isn't hallmarked, but we think it's 9ct gold, as would be usual for this kind of cameo.

Condition:  Excellent condition, and probably hardly used. The clasp is very good.

One interesting feature of this brooch is that the back lifts off, so it also works as a locket. You can add a secret photo or lock of hair!
